Car with lots of white smoke, sounded really rough?
I started the car, it sounded fine, went to back up, got like 5 ft, then it stalled. I tried to start again and it turned over fine, but was really hesitating. Finally after a few tries it started, but sounded bad, really jumpy, and there was a lot of white smoke coming out the exhaust... the oil was low... i checked, any ideas?
It is a 97 Saturn. Smoke looked white.
You could have fried the piston rings. That would usually make the car pretty smokey and it will run rough, due to losing compression in the cylinders (the oil leaks past the rings).
Sounds like rebuild time
