How do you overcome the difference in white balance between a strobe and natural light in an outdoor shot?
If you have set your cameras white balance for the natural light in an outdoor shot, but are using a strobe for extra light, what do you do about the difference in white balance between the natural light and the strobe?
The answer really depends on the time of day.
Just using a gray card for custom white balance will not work
Your camera can only see one white, if you have mixed light the camera isn't going to be able to just pick half this and half that, to make white, it doesn't work this way. You need to adjust everything and choose which white you want.
It's an odd question though as usually daylight and Strobe has a similar color temp. I did say it depends on the time of day thouugh.
If it's sunset why not set your camera on daylight then put a CTO on the flash.
Early morning I might consider a cloudy setting on camera then a CTB on flash.
Middle of day, no adjutment is necessary
CTO= color temperature orange
CTB= color temperature blue
You can buy these as jells at any good photography store
