Can you cross a tomato and pink rose?
We planted a pink rose plant on top of an old tomato plant and now we've got some kind of fruit-rose. Is that possible??
Roses and tomatoes aren't closely related enough to graft themselves together and become one plant. That's something that can happen with two individual plants of the same species, but you can't create a rose/tomato cross that way. (If you plant something on top of a different plant, they might both survive, or one might die because of competition with the other plant for space, nutrients, and water.)
What makes you think you have a plant that is a cross between the two? If you have a rosebush with little red/orange/pink swellings on the stems below the flowers (or where there used to be flowers), that's normal -- you're actually seeing the fruit of the rose plant, which are called rose hips.
If you haven't been treating your rose with any kinds of herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides, you might want to look for some recipes. Rose hips can be dried and made into tea, or if you have enough fresh ones you can make jam or even wine.
