How can you tell if a lovebird is bonding with you?
I got a lovebird a week or so ago - and he definitely prefers me over my boyfriend. He will sit on my shoulder for awhile and likes to be kissed on the beak and chews my necklace.. but doesn't like being taken from his cage initially or being picked up. He has never bitten. How long does it take for them to be snuggly? And is this signs of starting to bond?
This is defiantly a good sign of bonding. Eventually he will be more willing to leave the cage.
As far as your boyfriend goes, birds will typically bond more with one person. That's not ot say they won't bond with another, just that they tend to prefer one over the other. If your goal is to have your bird bond somewhat equally, then your bf needs to be spending quality time with your bird as well.
