What does the term "the canary in the mine" mean? (USA?)?
As i worked down the mine,Canary's were only taken
down to test for gas they were not left hanging
for gas to seal there fate,When there was gas the Canary
got distressed and men an Canary were soon removed
to safety.When testing was finished the bird was taken
above ground.These birds were pets also,and were very
well looked after.Never saw a Canary die down the mine.
